The mission of the Marcellus Youth Soccer Club (MYS) is to teach fundamental soccer skills while having fun and practicing good sportsmanship. We welcome everyone regardless of skill level.
MYS supports small-sided games as endorsed by US Youth Soccer. This environment is a developmentally appropriate environment for our young soccer players that is FUN and focuses on the player. It allows the players to have more touches on the ball and to have more involved playing time. Goalies are not used at the U6 and U8 playing levels.
Off-sides is called at the U12 level and U10 in the Spring.
If games are canceled due to weather ALL games are canceled. Age group coordinators by 7:30am. Coordinators will call the coaches and coaches call the players. The web site will show the facilities CLOSED and a note will be posted on the main page.
The coaches are responsible for team practice schedules and practices can be moved or canceled at the coaches discretion.
It is the policy of MYS that the Board will decide if any players move up an age level. These requests will be determined on a case by case basis. The decision will be determined by a number of factors, including the number of players per division and coaching constraints. In the event a player or number of players move up an age level, players will be evenly dispersed among the teams.
We will allow a refund up to 4 weeks into the session (fall or spring) that payment was received.
Team Selection Process:
Coordinators will not honor request for specific coaches. Returning players will be evenly dispersed across teams. New players will be evenly dispersed across teams. Siblings will be placed on the same team unless requested otherwise.
Players with special needs will be placed with experienced coaches. Teams will be balanced for age, grade, and experience. All indoor and outdoor travel teams must be dispersed among the teams.
All injuries need to be reported to the team coach who will notify the president. The president will notify NYSWYSA for insurance purposes. It is the parent's responsibility to file an insurance claim.
Players may not play or practice with a hard cast. They may play and practice with a soft cast as long as there is written permission from their doctor stating they are able to participate without limitations.
